When I was a kid in school struggling with dyslexia I use to think about all of the successful dyslexics that had the same challenges with dyslexia. Knowing this  helped me  focus on it being a learning difference rather than a disability. I created this video The Power Of Dyslexia to help other people through some of their frustrations with dyslexia.
After posting this video on YouTube and seeing how it has helped so many people I decided to create this site in hopes of creating a collaborative community where dyslexics and those that are touched by dyslexia can share there stories, ideas and even offer advice to others.
Please join and help build a strong visual thinking community of dyslexics.

In his May 21, 2009 speech on national security given at the National Archives in Washington D.C., President Obama stated:
there is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is Americas strongest currency in the world. Instead of building a durable framework for the struggle against al Qaeda that drew upon our deeply held values and traditions, our government was defending positions that undermined the rule of law. In fact, part of the rationale for establishing Guantanamo in the first place was the misplaced notion that a prison there would be beyond the law a proposition that the Supreme Court soundly rejected. Meanwhile, instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause. Indeed, the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained.

Despite the historical significance of the upcoming election, what matters most to American voters, or should, is where the two candidates truly stand on the critical issues and how effective they will be in getting their programs through Congress.
The Presidential candidates in any election past, present, and future, are vying for votes. Thats a given. They make promises and choose their platform issues based on how they think it will affect the voters. But smart American voters know that Congress is the decision maker and the chance of delivering what the Presidential candidates promise has most to do with who gets elected to Congress and how they stand on those same issues.
Lets take the TAX Issue and see what the media is reporting on where the candidates stand on taxes.
Barack Hussein Obama John McCain: Position on Taxes
Obama - Wants to allow the Bush Tax Cuts of 2001 and 2003 to expire as scheduled for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year.
McCain - Wants to make the Bush Tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 permanent, and has proposed a few more of his own.
Now I personally am against this mentality of raising taxes owed by the big producers and giving non-producers handouts. After all, if you punish production you get non-production, and if you reward non-production you get more non-production. I dislike the fact that I work really hard and pay a lot of taxes while someone on welfare works not at all and my tax dollars are given to them for not producing. This, in my opinion is one of the major problems with our American economic system.
However, I believe our tax system is broken, beyond repair, and should be scrapped in favor of the FairTax. Even changing to a Flat Tax keeps a broken system alive to be muddied up with more complex rules and codes every year.

According to local media sources, Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton pitched the idea ofincreasing the citys millage ratein a private meeting with local business leaders Tuesday morning.
While a millage rate increase had been discussed in several circles, particularly in light of the recent JCCI studythat showed the city in rather dire financial straights, it had remained unclear up to this point whether or not the Mayor would be on board with any increase. News of this discussion between the Mayor and prominent business and civic leaders would seemingly indicate that the Mayor has concluded the only way to deal withthe citys $65 million deficit, as well as the citys pension crisis, would be through tax increases.
The challenge for the Mayor will be twofold. For starters, this isnt the first time the Mayor has floated the idea of a millage rate increase, only to drop it after facing public opposition. The original Jacksonville Journey Commission recommended a millage rate increase and the Commission felt quite sure the Mayor would support their recommendations-he had pledged to repeatedly in private conversations. However, he dropped his support after a poll was released showing public opposition. Business and civic leaders are certain to greet the Mayors proposal with a great deal of skepticism this time.
The Mayor must also convince the public, something that will no doubt be the most difficult task of all. Voters remain wary of City Hall, and continue to display a growing discontent over the expenditure of taxpayer dollars. Any case to raise taxes (although many will argue that a millage rate does not necessarily raise taxes as property values have declined) must be made with a clear outline of how the money will be spent.

The popular dirty paper towels have focused much attention on the marital infidelity of Americas favorite fertility drug users as of late. I am referring to John and Kate Gosselin the couple that birthed twins and sextuplets. Apparently from the television reports (a mass media and entertainment device) and grocery isle covers that I have have been seeing, John has somehow cheated on his wife. There is no shortage of attention on Kate though. She has done everything humanly possible to transform herself into Victoria Beckham. I want to first speak of John. Cheating on your wife when you are constantly in the public eye is a ballsy move. Thanks to ungrateful celebrities we have seen and heard about how unrelenting paparazzi and photographers are. John Gosselin is at maximum capacity of fame right now far as famous as a person who had a lot of kids at once can be. He had the audacity to go to a baseball game and supposedly fuck another women in a situation where even Houdini would have been caught. First off, he at least could have consulted Chris Angel for this. (Chris Angel is a magician who coreographed a terrible Brittany Spears dance at some award show) To pull this off in his position would have been a silent act of god. The second offense John committed was hair plugs. It was a disgrace to his family and culture. Although if my whole life was on a television show and even making love to my wife was somewhat documented through testimonials I probably would want to either cash in on it with a porn career (hence octomom), or find someone that didnt talk about that shit on TV. Also when one person in a reality show couple doesnt want to be on TV the other should respect it. John also once put a lighter up his ass. Nobody knows why. The moral of his story is that you cant breed a slave race of children and not expect people to judge you for it. Kate Gosselin makes me even more angry because she is trying to look like Victoria Beckham. I would like her more if she just cheated. For reasons I dont understand about myself it makes me extremely hateful towards once normal people who get famous and get surgeries and fancy hairstyles and walk around with a look on their faces like they have done something to earn their position. Fuck them and fuck her. Well unless you are John, then fuck someone else. Spites a bitch, just like Kate. They keep showing this orange county choppers episode where they get free fancy motor bicycles. Nobody knows that Paul Tuttle did charge them when he raped them both and threw the sloppy seconds to his his . Mikey is into some really sick shit. He likes to professionally tie his hair to other peoples hair and swing them around. I guess John and Kate my find love and reunite in front of all of us on TV, but forever their marriage and lives will be tainted by us and how we treated them when they wanted privacy going to the bathroom.
Everyone loved to hate octomom and give higher moral opinions about how she shouldnt have been able to have her kids. But we made others rich and famous for the sheer fact that they did have kids. Without the help they received could John and Kate even have fucking afforded it? At least when she wasnt offered a show octomom was willing to do porn, something that would sell no matter what. She is a true god damn american and no different than other people. Morals died with god a long time ago, and money started ruling everything on this soil. The secret to it all is that Octomom kidnapped all eight of those kids from murderous women in florida and should be considered a hero and entrepenuer. She also can blow really big bubbles with bubble yum. Then again at least she isnt some dumb bitch trying really hard to look like Victoria Beckham and cast judgement on her husband that She drove away with her lust for fame and spotlight time.

In recent years however, we have seen an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough. It appears that the immunity that many of us gained from the vaccine has worn off and the disease is making a comeback. Due to the increasing number of cases, the CDC has recommended that many people now get a booster of the pertussis vaccine, which can be included with tetanus in a Tdap. This is especially important for mothers and caregivers of young infants, as this age group is at the highest risk of death from this disease.

I went out of town for a while, to a dance convention.
Unlike most conventions where people handle the business of their obsession before they get together (ie before they hit the convention they have already written the papers, watched the movies, read the books, done the research, etc.) at a dance convention you go to dance.

There are all levels of dancers there; beginners, hobbyists, professionals, wannabes and everything in-between. I'm somewhere in the middle. I have strong ties to the dance community, but have no desire to be A DANCER! I just like getting up there and shaking my body, following the moves and admiring the skill of those far more flexible and willing to practice than I.

When I first entered the dance world, I had stars in my eyes. Those pro dancers were everything I aspired to be--cool, good-looking, ass-kickingly great dancers, world travelers and crazy fit. But unlike most newbies, I slid in kind of sideways and knew the pros on another level before we ever shared a dancefloor. Imagine if you will that you'd never read a romance novel until you met and hung out with Nora Roberts and Suzanne Brockmann on a cruise (Crusie). It sort of skews your perspective.

Instead of wading my way through some excruciatingly bad reads on my way to finding the gems, I started out at the top with nowhere to go but... down.

That's what dance conventions usually are for me now. A downer. I can still appreciate the mystery and mastery of the pro-dancers, but it's colored by a far too intimate knowledge of them. Imagine if you got together with your new cruise buddies and after a while it came to light that Brockmann* is a lousy tipper (and proud of it), Roberts** is addicted to pot (and "can quit any time"), and Crusie is just a callous bitch who puts on a good show in public and then gathers her cronies together and laughs at the fans. Would you want to grow up to be these people?

Just the thought of it sours on the tongue. On the other hand, I have had a whole stinkin' lot of fun being a dancer, pros notwithstanding. I've met good people and bad people and learned, again, in a whole new arena, what I appreciate about human beings.

I like loyalty. But not cloying, stupid loyalty eg, the kind that allows a heroine to take shit from her evil stepmother and turn the other cheek when her sister steals her man (who, if he will allow himself to be stolen is not worth the title of "man," nor worth trying to get back.) I like open hearts and kindness that see past a name or body shape into the humanity and love of the activity that we all share. And, I like humility - just because you're a good dancer it doesn't mean you deserve to win or that others aren't just as good or that you weren't bad once.

Like reading, the experience of watching dance is subjective. I can watch something that blows my mind and leaves my husband shrugging. Who is right? Both of us. His lack of enthusiasm can't take away my gasp of pleasure. I might be impressed every single time I see an attitude spin - right up until I can do one myself. He has been seeing them for years and would rather see a hot as hell break based on unexpected musical interpretation that I don't even notice.

However, knowing who the pros are before I decide where to focus means that I'm almost always guaranteed a good watching experience. Sadly, this also means that I'm missing out on stellar dances by couples whose names I don't know. (Bestseller vs midlist anyone?) Opportunity cost breaks my heart.

Like writing, one has to know the mechanics of how things should be before breaking all the rules. It's the combination of adherence to and breaking the rules that makes the performance of dance an art. If I always start a move on my right foot as I'm supposed to, and switch off to my left foot when you least expect it - somehow it's brilliant. But if I don't know where I'm supposed to start and move on the left, somehow it's a mess. And the reader / watcher can always tell if you know what you're doing. Always. ALWAYS.

The interested reader / watcher also gets used to your tricks, learns how to deconstruct them and adapt them for personal use. I once left a convention knowing how to do a one-legged spin. (!) I hadn't done one at the convention, didn't take a class, and had no personal instruction. But I sat and watched a gross of them from the cheap seats. Next time I got on the dance floor, I was able to do one. You could have knocked me over with a feather, and not because I was so badly balanced (though I was), but because I didn't realize the instincts of a two-year-old were still alive and well inside me. Monkey see, monkey do.

This convention I noticed I picked up a weird floaty foot moonwalk type of thing that has always eluded me in the past. Who knows if it'll stick. I don't think I care if it does. After all, I don't want to be A DANCER!, but I do want to be an author. And I learned something else this weekend in my reading--something that initially felt like a downer as soon as I discovered it in the book I was devouring, because I didn't do it in my own writing and then changed to a spark of appreciation.

I saw what the writer was doing, was able to recognize how she did it AND see how I didn't use the same trick (seeing the flaws in your own work is the trickiest part of creation) in my own writing and I know how to incorporate her skills into my projects. I missed the capstone of the convention. I got text messages while I was in my hotel room. "Where are you? This is the best part of the event!" The pros were performing, but I didn't care, I already knew their tricks. You know where I was? Curled up under the covers, finishing off that book and marveling at the new skill I had just acquired.

I am looking for tips on dealing with my anxiety disorder. Ive had generalized anxiety disorder since i was 7. Im now 14 and going into high school next year. I also have panic disorder, phobias, and I am afraid of being trapped into places. I dont like elevators. I try to be normal. I have a very hard time making friends. I just never feel good about myself. By the way, I am medicated and go to a therapist. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

View the techniques for control of panic attacks, in section 8, at ezy build, below. Begin by holding your breath for 5, or 10 seconds: this will give you the confidence to realise that YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR
EATHING, but not pass out, or die (your autonomic nervous system resumes breathing, if unconscious). Understand panic attacks, and what triggers them, in your life (if it is unresolved anxiety, see section 6). The paper bag method works for most people: try it. If you are fairly suggestible, the following are reliable: http://www.hypnosisdownloads.com/
Your last alternative is psychotherapy, to address its fundamental cause: read section 1, and examine the http://www.1-800-therapist.org/ website, and use the locators, and phone book. I used to suffer from panic attacks, until I questioned what had changed recently in my life, to trigger them? I suggest that you learn, then practise the controlled breathing technique, until competent, then employ it, at the very first sign of a panic attack. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris See anxiety treatments, at ezy build (below) in section 6. Set yourself a fixed limit for worrying about any particular subject, (say; 10, or 15 minutes) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even consider that subject again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. Use the technique for reprogramming negative thoughts and internal monologue (self talk), on pages 2, and 2L, to help you in this: some people carry a wide rubber band in their pocket: put it on their wrist; stretch, and release, as a means of reinforcing it, and speeding up the process, re-pocketing it afterwards, but I regard this as being purely optional. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself. ~~~ LOW COST/FREE COUNSELLING: Contact your county/local mental health agency, and find out what help they can offer. Also see sections 27, and 9, at ezy build.

washing your hands frequently and coughing into your elbow or sleeve. There have been 3 confirmed deaths in the US from swine flu, which is still a far cry from the estimated 36,000 people that die from the seasonal flu and it's complications every year in this country. And the good news is that we are headed into the summer in North America, which is not prime flu season. What we need to remember though is that this virus could easily hang out in other parts of the world and then come back in the fall and perhaps be more deadly. Of course that remains to be seen, it could also just fizzle out in the next couple of months and not cause any more serious problems. It's a good idea to be prepared for the worst, but not panic and of course always hope for the best. To help you do that, we have some great information right here.

Knut Holt asked:
By allergy the immune system react against a substance that it is not supposed to react against, and the reaction is often exaggerated. Objects containing substances that commonly cause allergy are domestic dust, animal hair, household chemicals, chlorine, microorganisms, pollen, nuts, citrus fruits and seafood. Also bacteria and parasites can cause inappropriately strong immune reactions.

THE MECHANISMS OF ALLERGY
The total set of reactions occurring by allergy is very complicated. Many of these are the same as by normal immune reaction, even though they occur when they should not take place. Here are listed some of these reactions:
By exposure to a new substance, cells in the immune system learn to recognize that substance (allergen), and it learns to produce anti-bodies towards the substance, and a certain amount of antibodies is produced. The type of anti-bodies called IgE is the most important by allergic reactions.
IgE will glue itself to some cells in the blood called mast-cells, and stick out from the surface of these cells. By following exposures to antigens, these will attach themselves to the IgE-ends sticking out from the mast-cells. This will trigger the mast-cells to produce histamine and other signal substances. These signal substances will then spread through the surrounding tissues.
The signal substances will then trigger the walls of small blood vessels to leak fluid into the tissues and accumulate in the tissues. This will cause tissue swelling. They also will cause blood vessels to widen and thus increase the blood stream in the tissues. The consequence of this will be swelling and redness in the affected body parts. The signal substances will also make glands in the tissue produce more mucus, making symptoms like running nose and tight throat.
The new exposures to the antigens will also provoke even more anti-body production. The antibodies will also glue allergens together to bigger complexes. These complexes can clog small blood vessels and in other ways disturb the function of the affected organ.
The allergen-antibody-complexes are then recognized by the cells and other mechanisms that the body uses to collect and eliminate garbage. Eater-cells gather and engulf the complexes.
The immune system also will make enzymes that attack the antigens to break them down. Also this production is stimulated when antigens attach themselves to anti-bodies at cell surfaces. But these enzymes are not entirely specific, and can also to some extend break down components of the body’s own tissue, causing harm and disease symptoms.

WHAT CAUSES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO REACT WITH ALLERGY TO A SUBSTANCE
In the beginning of the life of a person, the immune system has the potency to react against most substances in the body itself and the surroundings. However, there are mechanisms that learn the immune system to recognize normal substances found in the daily life in the early infanthood, and suppress the reactions against these. If this learning mechanism is disturbed, allergy can develop.
Allergy can also develop if a small child is never exposed to substances that later will be a normal ingredient of his daily life. In this case the immune system will not get the chance to suppress the reaction against this substance. Letting a small child grow up in an exaggerated clean and sterile environment can therefore cause allergies.
On the other hand, certain elements not being a part of a normal environment can cause allergies by repeated and massive exposure. Examples of such substances are chlorine.

TYPES OF ALLERGIES
Allergy varies according to the compound that causes the immunological reaction. An allergic condition also often implies reaction against a combination of several substances. Common substances causing allergy are: Pollen, domestic dust, mites in domestic dust, moulds and mould spores, chlorine, chemicals in soaps and cosmetics, animal hair, seafood, strawberry, fish, parasites, medicines like anaesthetics and antibiotics
An allergic condition may periodically get better or worse according to the concentration of the allergen in the environment. A typical example is pollen allergy with peaks in the pollination season of grass or treas.
An allergic person will often get symptoms from several tissues in the body, but the symptoms are often most prominent at one body part and give very specific symptoms at that site. Examples of specific conditions often caused by allergy are eczema in the skin and asthma in the lungs and lower airpipe.

THE SYMPTOMS OF ALLERGY
Any organ can exhibit allergic reactions, but often the symptoms are confined mainly to one organ or organ system.
By allergic reactions in the respiratory system there will be symptoms like: Itching and soreness in the throat and nose cavities, swelling of the airway tissues, increased amount of secrets in the airway cavities and coughing. There may also be asthmatic symptoms or fully developed asthma. The main symptom of asthma is cramping that constricts the airways all the way down into the lungs (constriction of the trachea and tracholes).
By allergic reactions in the skin, there will be symptoms like: Redness, swelling, red spots, itching and soars.

HOW TO PREVENT ALLERGY
To prevent allergies in an individual the best way, one must begin in early childhood.
A child must be allowed to get in contact with natural elements like earth, dirt, animals, plants, physical contact with other humans, and the like. This exposure to natural elements must occur before an allergy has developed. In this way the immune system will learn to recognize common and harmless elements, and not overreact against this later in life.
Research projects have found out that children having much and early contact with pet animals like cats and dogs have a less chance of getting allergic problems later than children not having contact with pets. This is contrary to what many people believe.
On the other hands, every person should be protected from early childhood from certain elements normally not found in a natural environment, for example chlorine, soaps and cosmetics with artificial substances, and food containing unnatural additives.

METHODS TO TREAT ALLERGY
The first approach in the treatment of manifest allergy is avoiding exposure to substances causing the allergic reactions. Even though exposure to natural substances can prevent allergy, exposure to an allergen should be avoided when an allergy already has developed. Ways of doing this is:
- Avoiding food one reacts against
- Avoiding contact with animals one have an allergic reaction towards
- Keeping rooms, clothes beds and furniture well cleaned
- Avoiding use of cleaners, soaps and cosmetics with unnatural additives
- Avoiding foods, drinks and snacks with unnatural additives
- Avoiding daily exposure to chlorine and other chemicals
- In cooperation with your doctor change medicines you use that may cause allergy with others
- Avoiding growth of moulds in the environment. This is done by well cleaning and keeping the environment dry.

Children are often exposed to allergens at school, and adults are often exposed at work. Parents with allergic children must inspect the school environment and require from the school administration and teachers that practically possible environmental measures are provided to keep the school free from allergens. An employee should require the same from his employer.
If you do not know exactly everything you react against, you can try to stop exposure to one factor after another, until you feel that the allergy alleviates, and then keep this factor out of your daily life for the future.
Sometimes avoiding allergens is difficult to accomplish, or make the lifestyle to restricted to be acceptable. Then one must apply medical treatment that alleviates the allergy.
A common way of treating allergy is applying medication that block the effect of the substance histamine, and thereby alleviate or prevent the symptoms occurring when the antigen get into the body.
Another way is desensitisation treatment. By this treatment one let the body get a controlled and gradually increasing exposure to the allergens over a time period, and when this period is over, one let the body get recurrent exposure to a controlled dose at regular time intervals. By this treatment the response from the immune system from the allergens gradually decrease, partly because the immune system thereby learns to recognize the allergens as harmless, and partly because the antibodies against the allergens are used up.
There are also natural products on the marked that contain ingredients that help the immune system to react more appropriately. Important effects of these products are reduced histamine secretion and increased histamine metabolism. Examples of ingredients in such medicines are:

Methylsulfonyl methane, vitamin C, vitamin E, Echinacea purpurea, Quercetin, grape Seed, Stinging nettle, Coleus Forskolin.

Busy Mom-Need a Psalm: Guess what? Nap Over

  • May. 15th, 2009 at 5:13 PM

Well, Mickey Mouse invited us back to his place, and what could we say but, We just love this place, and? We LoVE all the tiny Mickey rhinestone and silver jewelry (sterling!).

Last night, wed decided to go on to Branson, stay the night (do a tiny bit of outlet shopping!), spend the night, and not have to get up too early to drive to the airport (in Springfield, MO). Well, after all the storms and all the last minute things (kids toothbrushes, everyones vitamins and Zyrtec, sippy cups, shorts, one more set of clothes for everyone.), we didnt leave till 7pm! So, we werent going to make it to Branson till 9-after the kids bedtime, and no time to outlet shop! : ( So, we cancelled the reservation (another story altogether), and went home. Bathed the kids, got them to bed, I did last minute cleaning up, and went to bed about 12:30.

Cancelling: When you call (AFTER *key word here* making the reservation), and report that you no longer need the room. Our reservation for our hotel in Branson, made at 4:30pm on Tuesday (ok, a little last minute) said our card would be charged unless we cancelled the reservation by Monday, May 11 at 9pm. Umm..okay. So, Ill cancel before I make it next time, and in some alternate universe (with a time warp!) itll work itself out just fine. On Earth, where I live, we do things in OrDeR! So, I explained, and she promised not to charge us (for being freaks canceling 2.5 hours after the reservation was made). Bonus? The kids heard us on the phone, thought we werent going at all, and totally Yes Maed us all the way home, and straightened themselves right up! Cha-ching! : ) (and now feeling $110 on the positive side of the trip!)

We (I ) got up at 5, showered, got everything ready (AND made my bed!!), then got the kids up, ate and hit the road.

Lets skip the plane ride since there was lots of wanting to get up, snacks, cheese-y fingers (Ches brought Cheetos for Ethan. How sweet.), ordering of the snack packs (which included color-on cookies), and general loud talking.

Here, got rental car/SUV, managed to wrangle the kids inside, and off on a hunt for food! By the time wed pulled into Chilis parking lot, Ethan had just fallen asleep! Clay jumped out, started his Loud Talking, and SlaMMeD the door! Guess what? Nap over.

We ate with the usual: Ethan standing (no, really.) at the booth, not eating much, climbing over the booth seat (we didnt know anyone there, so it didnt go on our record officially) and therefore getting a naughty chair timeout, Clay not hungry, Mary Claire needing to go to the bathroom, Clay needing to go to the bathroom, Ches shoveling his food in an effort to finish to take Ethan to the car so I could eat, finishing alone, getting to-go cups, paying, Ches texting to get in the car very quietly since Ethan was already asleep (poor baby, missing his nap!), the kids kinda listening to me, me losing a straw for my drink, finding it in the parking lot (and using it-hey! It had the wrapper on it!), and driving on. If we paid for it, it counts as a meal, or Id swear I didnt eat.

We made it to the hotel, and got her insulin pump (guess you missed out on that one!).
*Ok, I was so panicked, freaked out, and crazed, I didnt have time to blog/catch up yesterday. We had a big scare-Mary Claires pump got a #21 Error which is bad: it cleared all of our data off: her bolus ratios for eating, her basal (the constant infusion of insulin she gets), her correction ratios (for when shes high), everything!!!
So, panicked, I checked her out, took Ethan up to nap, got all her info and started to reprogram the pump by hand. I called back in to the helpline, and they got a loaner pump in the mail to us. Bad news: we were leaving for Florida at 6am! So, I gave them our resort address, and they shipped it there (hindsight: 20/20-it worked out fine, and it was here before we were). But, they said once you get this error, itll continue to happen, and it had to be destroyed. Umm, okay, so Ill wear it another whole DAY till the other one gets here. Aarrgh.

So, THEN, we find out that the warranty is up (knew this was coming),and that our insurance pays for one every five years (this coming August), so we have to petition the insurance company, and when the agree, we meet our deductible ($750) and pay 80% of the pump. But (tiny Good News!), they now have PINK! So, when she gets it in a couple weeks or so, shell be on cloud nine! : ) It couldnt cost that much more to make pink plastic, but itll be priceless on all the little girls I know! : )

Ok, tired, theres more, but later.
Wal-Mart for groceries, loads of police cars, ambulances, sheriffs cars. Downtown Disney: shopping, Lego store, princess stuff, bracelets and charms, Ches-no cell phone on his body, and the AweSoMe T-Rex store/restaurant!!

Ill post a few pictures, but obviously, Ill have a billion, so Ill try to limit it
From WDW, Holly (ok, that sounds very reporterly. and official.)

*added later:
Ok, I guess I should comment on the strange photos in the slide show below.
Kids eagerly watching the plane being cleaned before we board.
Ethan calm
Ethan sticking tic-tacs up his nose
(then getting one stuck, screaming, me digging it out-sorry, no photo)
More plane photos
Our AMaZiNG hotel (resort?) room!! Three floors of entry, living, kitchen, dining, our room and big bath, kids' room and big bath, full laundry (I should say full-size washer and dryer!), and another flight of stairs to another living area/game room with foozball (can't spell this one) and air hockey! Suh-weet! : )
Pictures at TRex restaurant/store
Pix with red Lego T-Rex (again-we'll see how much he's grown?)
France (if it were made of Legos)
and Ethan, "PLaY!"
and I've been trying out a new Bath Body Clean Well product: No Alcohol-All Natural Germ Killer. It uses plant extracts and I chose Spearmint Lime scent (just smells cleaner), and the kids don't scream when it burns their boo-boos. It's a spray and it's tiny, but has about 250 sprays inside (hiding and compacted, of course).

The World Health Organization, CDC and US government are no longer using the term "swine flu" due to the damage it has done to the pork industry and the unfounded response some countries are taking when it comes to pigs. The virus will now be referred to by it's technical name, which is H1N1. Why the change? Mostly because many people are now afraid to eat pork, even though there is no reason to be. This is a respiratory virus that is not found in the meat of pigs. Egypt recently ordered that all pigs in that country be slaughtered in a misguided attempt to protect their citizens, although that was later changed. Several countries, including China and Russia, have banned the import of pork products from Mexico and the United States, which is hurting the pork industry Another reason the name is being changed is because the virus is not solely a swine influenza. It is made up of swine, bird and human influenza viruses, so technically the name "swine flu" isn't really accurate anyway. Of course, now that people have been calling it the swine flu for over a week, there isn't a very high likelihood that we will all suddenly start calling it H1N1. What will you be calling it now.

We have been to see Zoo lights--I was disappointed that the Cat Country, Northwest Passage, African Plains, China/Panda, and Monkey exhibits were all closed. Also, the only rides that were open was the carousel and train. The train was free and we didn't know it, so didn't ride it! I am about to post photos, so we did have a good time.

We drank peppermint martinis. We played spoons--Elise won every time. We played with the Christmas train and ran it off the track a lot. We ate at Cozymels. We laughed and screamed at movies....7 pounds, Changeling, Rudolph and Frosty, College Road Trip and more! We read Christmas letters from friends that made us cry. We shopped until we dropped. We went to Maria's house and laughed until we cried. We ate fine cheese and drank fine Port. The kids had SODA! Frank drank circus wine! We ate turkey, turkey soup and turkey sandwiches. We all have had a blast and it is going by waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast. I am trying to savor this time and store up memories. My children are rushing to grow up and Elise has changed in the last week even. Little Ella is growing taller and wiser and Ava is silent until she really wants to tell you something she has been thinking about.

Mom and Jon have seemed to have a great time and I hope they have. We are both trying to be Mary in a Martha world and it is hard to do this and not miss a "moment" when there are so many people to take care of and things to see done. Mom took the girls and the dog for a walk all the way to the park today. Ella pooped out on the way home and mom had to carry her. Poor mom! Jon and I were where? Out shopping! For fine cheeses! Yes, this is funny!! Fine cheeses.

Okay, I know I am totally late on my trip report from last weekend, but here it is....better late then never!

I had almost THE worst week ever the previous week and was looking forward to having a relaxing time in AC. Some family issues, etc, whatever. I wanted to leave it all behind and have a good time.

Friday, I left work early at 2pm to play the satellite at Borgata. $220 plus $30. One in every 5 would win a voucher to play in the $1000 buy in event (Super Survivor) on Sunday (April 19). Only 109 people bought into the satellite, so I figured that it wouldn't be a long tourney, which is good. My table was quite aggressive and I didn't get involved in many hands early on, which was good b/c I got some great reads on a bunch of people. One guy was 'luck box.' He'd call a pre flop raise out of position with king nine off.....catch a 9 to an over pair of jacks and call the entire way and hit another nine on the river. Yikes. I won a few hands when I had decent cards, so that was good. Got in with a good hand in a good position. Flopped nut flush draw and a small pair. Okay, nice. Bet, call, call....okay I call. Nothing for me on the turn. Bet, call, raise, I fold. Wouldn't have it anyways. I made it to quite a few rounds. When I busted out, I believe there was only like 4 or 5 tables left. I was severly short stacked from just the blinds and antes. Guy under the gun raises it. He was in almost every hand. I had king queen off. Oh well, my chips go in. He made it $2400, and with my raise, he had to call about $5700 or $5800 more. He calls, he' s like 'I got jacks' and I'm like 'I got two overs' He's like 'I kinda figured' Dream flop for me....king queen 8. I am basically doing the happy dance inside. Ace on the turn. Okay, so he's got four more outs (10 or jack will have me beat). Guess what comes on the river....10. Runner runner straight. yay me!

My friends had gotten there, so I walked over by them. I didn't want to play cash b/c Hubby Mike was on his way down and we were going to meet up with a few friends for dinner, and I like to have long sessions at cash. So I went to Let it Ride 3 card bonus...what a fun game! Didn't do too well in the beginning, but hit 3 of a kind, then straights and flushes with my 3 card hand, so I ended up cashing out with like $600 and I put in two to start. So I made back my buy in plus.

We did dinner, then hit the B Bar then went back to the hotel, so didn't do too much gambling that night.

Saturday, woke up and had breakfast then watched Arachnaphobia at the hotel with Hubby Mike. Hubby Mike went to play golf, so I went to the Borgata to play cards for the day (YIPPEE!). I wanted to play 2/5 NL but when I walked in, a brand new 1/2NL table opened. I'm a sucker for a new table, no matter the limit. I don't know what it is, but I love it. Maybe it's because everyone is new and basically start off with the same amount (if they all buy in for the max). You can also get real reads on people and not have to listen to ppl saying as you sit down "look out for seat 5, very aggressive" meanwhile, they are very tight players. I held my own for awhile, then took some bad hits. One guy bluffed me big time. I had pocket kings, raised and seat 4 called. He was first to act after the flop of ace rag rag. He checks, I bet, he calls. Then he went all in on the turn....okay Mr. Ace I fold. He shows the bluff......that made my blood boil! HA! He got what was coming to him b/c the guy in seat 3 took him for some big pots, Seat 3 got really lucky and caught some good flops and turns. I was down at one point to like $75 or $80 and was getting frustrated. I got king ten of spades, and I raised to 15, 4 callers. Oh brother. two spades on the flop, one being the ace of spades, so I'm drawing for the nut flush. I push all in, the all call me. My friend came over at that point and wanted a peek. Told her I was on a draw. Nice of spades on the turn. She's like 'I hop you caught that' and i'm like' Oh yea!' Nothing on the river, they all flip up like an ace or king high. So I triple up! YEE HAW! No other real notable hands, but at one point a friend of mine came to the table while I was eating downstairs, and I came back to the table and there was all new ppl except for two ppl at my table. he switched to the seat next to me when that guy left. So the entire time we are talking about our mutual friends, jobs, etc. Not really focusing on the table unless we're in a hand or something. My one friend just lost about $1500 in the matter of 5 hands. Here's her starting hands: pocket aces, pocket queens, ace king, jacks, aces again. She lost all of them in a row. People were calling her $30 pre flop raises (2/5nl) with like 5 7 off and hitting trips or straights, etc. So she was fuming. My other friend was in a sit and go with a $500 buy in and it was down to 4 people. And my other friend lost quite a bit at a 1/2 nl table, so my friend and I at the table were talking about that. Just wanted to give a brief history. So here we are chatting away, not loud or anything b/c we're next to each other. also, keep in mind, he almost got into a fist fight the night before when some guy lipped off at him. SO, back to the story. We're a talking about our friends and how hungry we are (eventhough I ate like 2 hours prior) and that we're going to the Amphora lounge when our friend is down w/ the sit and go and when Hubby Mike gets back. There's quite a hand going on. we kept pausing to watch some action, me basically just watching all the redbirds going into the pot, but I couldn't even tell you what cards are on the board. So, the hand is over and the one guy is getting the chips shipped to him and my friend goes, "man, why do I smell garlic?" and I'm like 'Duh, Wolfgang Pucks!' (cuz it's right next to us), Then I hear the winner of the hand say to the dealer "Hey, I thought you're not allowed to talk about a hand when it's in play?" Now I'm thinking that someone on the other side of the table (he's seat 1, I'm 10) was talking about the hand. And the dealer's like 'Yea, you can't talk about the hand while it's play' Then he starts going off about how someone was talking during the hand and they should get a warning and have to leave the table....so I'm like 'nice, someone's gonna get in trouble' to my friend...and he's giving the guy a look and my friend says to seat one 'Dude, she said Wolfgang Pucks' Wait a minute...wtf? did this guy just think I was talking about the hand? I flip out....and I mean FLIP out. this guy is about 250 pounds, me I'm like 95 pounds. He starts telling me to shut up (bad move dude). and I just start going off. Then he's like'You don't know what you're talking about, sit down' So now i'm like 'Oh man, was that guy talking about somoene else and my friend thought it was us he was talking about? I'm about to apologize and the new guy in seat 4 is words to me 'No, it was you he was talking about.' Okay, not for nothing, I'm there to play cards. I know the freaking rules, I'm there ALL the time...give me a break. AND, even if I was talking about the hand when i said 'Wolfgang Pucks' the hand was already over and the chips were being shipped to him...HELLO...I can then talk about whatever I want to! So his friend comes over and is talking more smack....oh I've had it. I tell Keith that if I don't walk away I'll end up hitting the guy' So I go tell my friend who just lost $1500 and she's like 'point him out, I'd like to get into a fight' LOL too funny. When I come back, he's STILL talking about it, so I go off one more time. I think by this time he realizes that even IF i was talking about the hand, it didn't matter, it was OVER....and don't TELL me what I said jerk!!!!!! Granted, I flew off the cuff quickly, but jerks like that get on my nerve! He even told the guy next to him (who told me this after he left) that he thought he could 'take advantage' of me and try to get me in trouble...WRONG BUCKO! He left after that. Jerk.

I played for about a half hour more, then we left to go to dinner, which was much needed. We ended up going to 1/2NL after dinner in the back room. Nothing happened here. I was basically falling asleep at the table, no action, no good hands, nothing. The BBJ hit after like 2 hours and I figured I woudln't stay much longer. Ended up cashing out up 7 bucks...woo hoo.

Sunday we didn't want to stay too long, good thing too. got seated at a nasty table by the cashier's window. Hubby Mike lost a hand after runner runner spade, so 5 spades on the board and he had ace king of diamonds. The other guys had two low rags and we could tell these guys liked action. I get jack queen in the big blind and Hubby Mike raised. 4 people called and I was priced in. I flop an open ended straight draw, I check. Hubby bets out and 2 people calll him. Hmmmmmm, I raise. They all call. I hit my straight on the turn and bet out 100. They all call. Board pairs on the river, I push all in, they both call. Two full houses....are you kidding me? Wow. So I'm like 'let's go' so we cash out. Some guy starts mouthing off to me, I take a deep breath and walk away. I knew it was going to be ugly and I don't like causing a scene. Esp. if I know we're leaving, I don't like to leave with a bad taste in my mouth. so we go to let it ride, I dump a hunge, but I feel better and we leave.

No trips planned until memorial day weekend, and I think the break is needed to calm myself. What do you all think.

Travel Advisories The US government has recommended that Americans cancel any nonessential travel plans to Mexico due to the outbreak of swine flu. No actual travel restrictions have been imposed in the US, so far Cuba is the only country that has halted flights to and from Mexico. WHO Alert Level Additionally, the World Health Organization raised its flu pandemic alert level to a Phase 4, which means that human to human transmission is occuring and able to produce "community-level outbreaks". According to the WHO, Phase 4 indicates a significantly increased risk of a pandemic but not necessarily "that a pandemic is a forgone conclusion." Illness Count in the US As of today, the CDC has reported that 64 cases of swine flu have been confirmed, with most of the additional diagnoses coming from New York City. This was not unexpected, as officials in New York believe that up to 100 students at a Catholic school there may have the virus. The CDC also indicated that there have been several more hospitalizations in the US but did not say how many. In addition to the CDC report, states have reported 4 other cases of swine flu, three more in California and one in Indiana, a state which had not previously reported any cases of swine flu. Swine Flu Around the World In addition to the confirmed cases of swine flu in the US and Mexico, Spain, Israel, New Zealand and Canada have all confirmed cases of swine flu among their citizens. So far, the only deaths have occurred in Mexico.

Phoenixs Fight: Guess what

  • Apr. 29th, 2009 at 7:55 PM

Phoenix is standing up on his own without holding onto anything, watch out world before long he'll be walking! (My poor house!!!) So far no luck at being able to turn the oxygen back down, my hopes were that starting the allergy meds would help but so far no luck. I do have to say that he is not scratching as much though, his poor little tummy was getting pretty red.

Exercising regularly is a great way to boost your immune system and at least one study has shown that regular exercise can reduce your chances of getting a cold. Unfortunately, sooner or later most of us will get sick. Whether it's a garden variety cold or full blown influenza, how do you decide when you're too sick to exercise? Sometimes it's easy to decide - if it's difficult just to get out of bed, you probably aren't going to make it through an aerobics class. Other times it's more difficult. How do you decide.

What a Shame about Me: RE Appointing Today

  • Apr. 17th, 2009 at 4:07 AM

For those of you that are salary, how many hours do you put in weekly? I find it interesting that Mr.dh puts in at least 60+ a week. He rarely has the entire weekend off. The lady who interviewed him yesterday told him that he would be busy, and there's no down time during his shift. As if he doesn't already do that all day, sometimes 12-15 hours a day. If he were to get that job, he'd be working 55 hours weekly and have two consecutive days off. What will we do with all that time together? We will get to do stuff! We can have a life! The possibilities....

AJ~I am not doing IUI this cycle. If it doesn't work for me this cycle (which I am not holding my breath that it will work) I am going on to injectibles next cycle. I don't know what else that involves. I hope my cervix isn't causing problems. I hope this is enough Clomid to make my ovaries productive.

While I didn't really do much, other than bake Friday and relax yesterday and today, it has been eventful this weekend- mostly emotionally. I was so distraught yesterday after Mr.dh told me that his boss has already filled his position, that he is yet to even vacate. Now I just want to move on from this place. Mr.dh is looking at positions outside of the company too. One is as a food salesman, which he would be very good at, and probably has the potential to make good money and another is with The Cheesecake Factory. I think it would have to be better than where he is now. The company we work for is fine, it's just the jackfaces that run this unit that are hard to deal with. I feel better today knowing that things will be better. They have to. I still want to move to the town where my RE is. Even better would be getting to work there. Ha. I doubt that would happen. I would like it though.
